AWS NOW BUILD S3: E4-E5
Project Overview
Now Go Build is AWS’s flagship documentary-style video series hosted by CTO Werner Vogels. Designed to spotlight global innovation through the lens of cloud technology, the series explores how startups and established companies around the world are solving real-world problems using AWS. As Associate Creative Director, I helped shape the visual identity, narrative arc, and storytelling structure of the series—ensuring a cohesive and premium look and feel across episodes filmed on location in cities like Jakarta, Berlin, and Singapore.
Role
Art Direction, Visual Design, Motion Direction
Tools
Adobe CC & Figma
Project Brief
Create a premium, documentary-style content series that tells compelling stories of global startups and organizations building real-world solutions using AWS. The goal is to humanize cloud technology by showcasing how it enables innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving at scale—anchored by the perspective and personality of CTO Werner Vogels. Balance consistency and polish with authenticity and local flavor. The series must be adaptable across cultures and languages while maintaining a unified global identity. Work closely with executive stakeholders, content producers, and regional partners to ensure every episode tells a meaningful and visually engaging story.
Execution Highlights
01.
Brand-Driven Visual Identity
Developed a bold, empowering visual language that reflected the initiative’s mission to inspire and support underrepresented engineers and entrepreneurs in tech. The design combined clean typography, dynamic layouts, and vibrant color schemes to convey energy and inclusivity.
02.
Collaborative Client Engagement
Worked closely with AWS and program leaders to maintain alignment on brand vision, messaging, and execution timelines—adapting creative approaches based on evolving project goals.
03.
Creative Leadership & Team Management
Directed the design team through all phases of production, fostering collaboration and innovation to meet tight deadlines and uphold quality standards.

Take Away
These episodes reinforced the power of animation as a storytelling accelerant—especially in live-action documentary formats. Working closely with a high-profile technical voice like Dr. Vogels taught me how to translate deeply complex ideas into simple, intuitive frames that respect both the viewer's curiosity and attention span. It also emphasized the value of design as a flexible narrative tool, adaptable to shifting tones, regions, and innovations.
